(Re)turning to the Green Room (2026)

Curated by Alex Xiaonan Guo
Date: 26.09.2026
Location: Hoxton Hall, London
(Re)turning to the Green Room invites London-based artists engaged in the creation and research of non-human organisms and entities from a decentring, post-anthropocentric perspective to collectively construct a fictional extraterrestrial landscape. Situated within a decentred, post-anthropocentric framework, the project unfolds through a process of collective world-building grounded theoretically in queer ecology and dark ecology. Beginning with the artists’ existing works, the project extends into a discussion of the characteristics and habitats of the organisms they have created, using images, texts, and diagrams to sketch out the blueprint of this extraterrestrial terrain.

Fflattening Earth (2026)

Curated by
Alex Xiaonan Guo, Jialin Yan
Date: 17-19.04.2026
Location: Outland Publishing Fair, Copeland Gallery, London
Situated within Outland Publishing Fair, an independent publishing event based in London that focuses on Sinophone artists and publishers, this exhibition explores the intersection of images, zines, and lived reality. Within this context, we invited London-based Sinophone women and queer artists to create an intimate yet imaginative space. Travelling through distant dust between the pages of a book, you encounter echoes of “home” in the dizziness of spring and enter spaces that feel familiar yet subtly displaced. In the darkness, shrine-like forms and alien beings drift through dream states.

Feast with the Beasts: VR Allegory of a contemporary Frankenstein (2025)

Date: 24-27.07.2025
Location: The Photographer’s Gallery, London

In a dimly lit chamber bathed in dark red light, three VR headsets invite visitors to join the Feast. Through their choices, audiences navigate these fictional worlds and encounter the unsettling realities they reveal. The three monsters—The Lure, The Dictator, and The Liar — confront visitors with the contradictions of our digital age: algorithmic manipulation, the erosion of human agency through AI, and the distortions of reality perpetuated by social media.

sitnaltA: Chimera in a Vat  (2025)

Curated by Alex Xiaonan Guo, Serena Xinran Gao
Date: 18.07.2025-23.08.2025
Location: Hypha Gallery 2, Sugar House Island
sitnaltA: Chimera in a Vat marks the third instalment of Project sitnaltA.

The exhibition brings together a group of emerging London-based artists whose works explore the metamorphosis and symbiosis of natural and artificial entities. These “chimeras” – hybrid life forms composed of animals, plants, microbes, and industrial or technological residues – collectively form a fluid, metabolic system in a former industrial site.

sitnaltA: 1, 2, 3, Alt! (2025)

Curated by Alex Xiaonan Guo, Serena Xinran Gao
Date: 25.04.2025-24.05.2025
Location: Hypha Gallery Marble Arch, London
sitnaltA: 1,2,3, Alt! is a site-responsive exhibition that reclaims the mundane as anchors of existence. Employing fictioning as a curatorial method, the exhibition transforms a former café into a liminal space oscillating between the present and speculative futures.

As the exhibition unfolds in three evolving phases, artists and curators reconfigure artworks in the public’s presence. Such processes simulate the traversing between three speculative time periods.

sitnaltA (2025)

Curated by Alex Xiaonan Guo, Serena Xinran Gao
Date: 20-24.03.2025
Location: The Handbag Factory, London
What if the myth of Atlantis was not a cautionary tale of the past but a prophecy of the future?

The exhibition sitnaltA reimagines the legend of a sunken civilization within the framework of contemporary climate crises. It transports viewers to the speculative year 2702, when humanity, having depleted its natural resources, retreats to higher ground and a virtual existence—an era known as “The Age of Suspense.“ Employing fictioning as a curatorial approach, the exhibition presents artworks as synthetic artifacts—hybrid compositions of lost relics, cultural fragments, and reconstructed memories, interpreted by future generations.
